Video Lite for Windows
For many videos at once, very large files or working offline. Download, requirements and verification.
The same tool as a program: it compresses videos of any size, length and format, many at once, and offline. It always uses native FFmpeg: on a test PC it was about 10 times faster than this page’s full engine (a 20 s 1080p video: 5.7 s versus 58 s).
Download VideoLite-0.0.2.5-win64.zip · 7.2 MB
- Unzip it wherever you like. It doesn't install anything or ask for administrator rights.
- Open VideoLite.exe, drag your videos in, choose the size and click Process.
- If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, it's because the app doesn't have a developer signature yet. Click More info and then Run anyway.
- Version
- 0.0.2.5 · October 14, 2026 · in English and Spanish; MOV, MKV, MP3 and M4A; rotate; “Enhance voice”; “Send to”
- Requirements
- 64-bit Windows. Tested on Windows 10 Pro; it should work on Windows 11, but I haven't tested it yet.

- In PowerShell, where you downloaded it:
Get-FileHash VideoLite-0.0.2.5-win64.zip -Algorithm SHA256 - Antivirus
- See the VirusTotal analysis. Some lesser-known antivirus engines may flag it with generic detections because it is a new program without a developer signature.
- License
- Free, closed source (terms of use). It includes FFmpeg, which is free software under the GPL: source code and build recipe (17.2 MB).
- Privacy
- Your videos never leave your PC and the app doesn't connect to the internet.
How it works
Video Lite works out the exact bitrate to reach the size you asked for and picks one of two engines on its own. The fast engine uses your own device’s video encoder (WebCodecs): it’s used when your browser supports it and the video ends up at 720p or more. The full engine is FFmpeg compiled for the browser: it compresses in two passes and covers everything else (less common formats, very small sizes, speed, rotation and “Enhance voice”). If the fast engine can’t reach the size, the video moves to the full one automatically.
By default, the result is an MP4 (H.264 + AAC), the format any computer, phone, browser or WhatsApp can open. Under “More options” you can choose MOV or MKV (same video and audio) or keep only the audio as MP3 or M4A.
- Private: the video is read from your disk and never leaves your device.
- First time: if a video needs the full engine, it is downloaded once (32 MB) and kept for next time.
- Speed: it depends on your device. On a test desktop PC, a 20 s 1080p video took 4 s with the fast engine and 58 s with the full one; a low-resolution one took a fifth of its length. Keep the tab open.
- Requirements: tested on Chromium-based desktop browsers such as Chrome and Edge. It may work on Firefox, Safari and phones, but I haven't tested them yet.
